New bedroom furniture!
I have wanted a sleigh bed ever since we stayed with Adam and Cassidi and saw their sleigh bed in 2005. 6 years! I just didn't want to get an expensive bedroom set and be in debt for it, so we have had our sad, sad furniture. We have a king size bed with the base which has been sitting on the floor since we got it--no headboard or frame. We have 2 $50 dressers that we got from KMart that the kids like to stand on the tiny handles and most of the fronts of the drawers have been broken right off. We've fixed and refixed with wood glue, screws, and nails. Some just can't be fixed, so where a dresser drawer front should be is just a hole with a bunch of junk in the drawer. One dresser doubles as Brads nightstand. I have a nightstand that is falling apart. The back is coming off and the fake wood on the top is stripped off in little strips where stickers have been taken off or something sticky has been scrubbed off. It truly is sad furniture.
Now, I don't know about everyone else, but things really do just seem to fall into place. You can worry and worry about something and push really hard for something and work your butt off and not have it happen. But most the time after all that hard work when you've given up, something just falls into your lap. This happened with our house and kind of with the cars. Our kids certainly didn't take much effort--they just came with ease (The effort has been every day since.) Our jobs have just kind of fallen in our laps with exception of the post office. I had to push to get that and it didn't really feel right and was not easy. I was looking and looking for a mattress because we were sleeping on a full size bed and kids like to jump in and leave you no room. So I looked and searched for months--online and at furniture stores. I pretty much gave up and then one day I was driving and saw a sign that said "mattresses for sale". 2 blocks down, someone had mattresses all over their front lawn. A mattress yard sale. Odd. But I found a good one (RC Willey double side pillow top--Springair?) That king size bed fits well in our room and it fits the entire family. And our dining room table. I searched and searched online and at stores. We found our table that easily seats 10 on a trip to DI.
So I pretty much resigned myself to having horrible furniture until the kids moved out. It is so darn expensive! Neither Brad nor I had looked for furniture for a long time, and yesterday Brad thought he'd just go to KSL and have a look. He found a great deal on the bed. We went to see it and I wanted all of it! The people are remodeling their room and totally getting rid of everything. We are getting the $300 bedding, the artwork, the lamps, the $350 bench, the nice armoire, and the king size sleigh bed for $700. And they are going to help us move it. So I am really excited about that.
In other news, my shoulder is doing so much better. I slipped at work on black ice and landed on my shoulder. It made me feel like an old grandma! I strained my shoulder and couldn't hardly even move it. I couldn't pick anything up or steer the car. I have been to physical therapy 8 times and I took 2 weeks off of work at the post office. I hate missing work due to ailments or illnesses! Time off is only good if it's for vacation. I went back to work at the post office on Monday. It was stiff and sore, but okay.
Connor decided he wants to do gymnastics again, so I am happy about that. Josh is doing basketball and loves it. They are signed up for soccer and will be signed up for tball. I asked Kaytlynn if she wanted to play tball, but she doesn't want to. Bummer. She would make such a cute tball player. Connor is excited to go snowboarding and they are all doing well in school. We went to the circus and that was fun, although all three kids were crying on their way out because we refused to pay $30 for a 1 minute ride. We told them if it was that important to them, they could take the money out of their piggy banks, but nobody wanted to do that. Okay, blogging is making me tired now, so I'll be done!
